MAKE THE SALE - AND THEN SHUT UP

HAVE YOU EVER LOST A SALE BY TALKING TOO MUCH?

Nora was one of my best salespeople in the travel agency.

She spent three hours with this older couple.

MAKING THEIR LIFE LONG DREAM OF A WORLD CRUISE COME TRUE.

She booked exactly the right stateroom on the ship. A quiet location
but not too far from the elevators.

Check.

Their main interest was the thrill of seeing the world from the
comfort of a cruise ship. She stressed that.

Check.

The adventure of seeing cities without packing and unpacking. No
airports. No security lines.

Check.

Coming back from each stop to your own comfortable stateroom.

Check.

Then the decisions on which shore excursions they would enjoy in
every port of call

They were so happy.

She did everything right.

The bill was about $90,000. Yes, you read that right. If you want
what you want and are willing to pay for it, that's what it costs.

She was so thrilled to close this important booking. They would
bring in a check the next day.

EXCEPT FOR ONE THING.

As she walked them to the door, she said -

You will love all the variety of restaurants on the ship. Indian, Thai,
Italian, French. The sauces in the French restaurant will blow your
mind.

The couple stopped dead in their tracks. He spoke.

This is probably not for us after all. I have colitis and my wife is
diabetic. We cannot be tempted to eat those things.

THE DEAL WAS DEAD.

She did it wrong.

Violated a cardinal rule in salesmanship.

AFTER YOU CLOSE THE DEAL ONLY TALK THE WEATHER OUTSIDE OR GRANDCHILDREN
- NOT WHAT YOU JUST SOLD.

She killed a $9000. commission with one sentence. Half of it would have
been hers.

Not bad pay for a few hours.

No amount of convincing that they could order anything they wanted in
the First Class Dining room worked.

Nora called in sick the next day.

Hard lesson to learn.

But once you do, you never repeat it.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
